Position Summary:

Responsible for maintenance and development of existing commercial customers and generation of new accounts. Build customer relationships by providing on-site recommendations and solutions. Sell all Kendell opening solutions, divisions, services, and product. Execute agreed upon sales strategy to meet organization objectives of expanding customer base and achieving sales goals. Works as part of the sales team for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals aligned with the organization’s objectives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Increasing sales by developing and maintaining relationships with customer and clients

  • Sell D8 and D10 commercial solutions to General Contractors, end users, and related parties
  • Determine customer requirements, specifications, green initiatives, compliance, building codes, material preferences, etc.
  • Service existing accounts and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work and schedule to meet customer needs and requests
  • Provide customers with technical assistance, research, and solutions
  • Work with our preferred vendors and new vendors on product recommendations and solutions that best fit the customer needs
  • Visit client sites and complete walk-throughs to take field measurements, assess needs, document facility standards, etc.
  • Demonstrate technical selling skills and product knowledge to select the correct products and/or assist clients in making product selections, based on need, product specifications, and applicable regulations.
  • Provide superior customer service to clients and establish long term business relationships.
  • Resolve customer issues by investigating solutions and making recommendations to the customer and organization

2. Support and execute annual individual sales strategy for assigned territory; targeted market areas, generating new client accounts and promote KENDELL services, divisions, and departments

  • Identify sales gaps, missed opportunities, and areas for improvement. Continual review and modification of sales strategy as needed.
  • Determine best marketing strategies within territory, to get in front of new customers and clients
  • Join and attend relevant organizations/association trades shows and meetings to maintain visible presence across markets.
  • Follow up post project for both positive and negative feedback and relay back to management.

3. Administrative compliance for sales, expense reporting and logging:

  • Weekly communication with VP of Sales to report on client activity, strategy, developments, etc.
  • Monthly expense reports submitted with proper supporting documentation

4. Prepare and deliver sales presentations or demonstrations as requested by client.

5. Provide end-user training as requested or required by client Special projects as needed.

6. Maintain and improve professional and technical knowledge by attending industry related or manufacturer, vendor, or distributor supported educational presentations/training sessions/workshops. Completion of quarterly and annual training requirements.

Work Relationships and Scope: Reports directly to the Director of Business Development. Works closely internally with other Outside Sales Representatives and Technical Sales Estimators and regularly with Purchasing Department, Shop, AR, Keying Group, and Shipping/Receiving. Work closely externally with Distributor Account Representatives, Clients (End Users/Owners, General Contractors, Owner Representatives, etc.) and Architects.

Measures of Performance/Competencies:

  • Drive revenue generation for organization.
  • Meet or exceed annual individual sales objective at established minimum GPM.
  • Maintain contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Expand and grow client base and market presence.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
  • Develop and review the success of strategic plans and modify as needed to meet and exceed sales objectives and organization objectives.
  • Complete, accurate, and timely sales data logging and expense reporting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum 5 years sales experience, preferably industry/distributor related
  • Valid driver's license and be insurable to drive
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, customer relations skills, and negotiation skills to work with a variety of individuals, manage various situations, and to influence and persuade
  • Customer service oriented
  • Perform and apply basic math activities/principles (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percents, decimals, fractions)
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet changing deadlines and special requests
  • Work well under minimal supervision and with a team
  • Perform daily tasks in alignment with organizational core values
  • Insurable to drive under company insurance policy

Working Conditions: Roughly60-70% of work week is performed out of office at client/contractor offices, project sites, etc. with variable environmental conditions. The remainder of the work week is in-office. Requires regular sitting, standing, walking - use of computer and telephone. Occasional lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds waist high is necessary. Overnight travel may be required.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
